For Once, An Honest Assessment

Here is an honest assessment of Reconsturctionism, by a non-reconstructionist who attended Chalcedon's 40th anniversary Conference:

What was the reference concerning Dobson, Robertson, etc. about? Do those in your "camp" not approve of these men and their beliefs? Just curious. Thanks!

These men are Christian Activists, not Reconstructionists. They are also dispensationalists which mean they generally have no use for the OT and God's Law (except for historical narative). Their hope lies in creating a "Christian" State from the top down whereas Reconstructionists believe that a Christian nation is a result of people turning their hearts to God (bottom up approach). Also Dobson's books in general are baptized secular psychology. In fact, if I remember correctly, his book Bringing Up Boys is almost exclusively baptized secular psychology with only the occasional reference to Scripture.

Christian Activism is often confused with Reconstructionism by Christians and non-Christians alike so there is an active attempt to make clear the line of separation. For a good breakdown of this topic, I recommend listening to this radio interview with Chalcedon’s Chris Ortiz: http://www.chalcedon.edu/radio/mp3ss2.htm.
